Tollie Farm Bay
tune – Fagáil Lismore

I sit on the bank one fine summer day
Digesting the beauty at Tollie Farm bay
My thoughts were directed to days now gone by
When the wee steamer Mabel ‘Maree’ did ply.

It sailed from the pier its pillars remain
All part of the picture a gift to retain
Proudly they stand like guardsmen of old
Promoting and prompting their story be told.

Secure in the water the test of time stood
Accepting the seasons in every mood
They formed the main structure supporting the pier
But ravaged by nature with each passing year.

The pier in full service its part it did play
As the Mabel set sail from Tollie Farm Bay
To cruise Loch Maree with its history and lore
Its beauty outstanding ‘Aridh Charr’ to the fore.

It circled ‘Maree’ and its islands of fame
Including ‘Maelrubha’s’ where legends remain
Returning to the pier at Tollie Farm Bay
The Mabel made ready for sailing next day.

The tourists were happy they had a good day
From the moment they sailed from Tollie Farm Bay
The voyaged ‘Maree’ saw scenes to behold
Its breathtaking beauty their vision did hold.

The hue ever changing from dawn of each day
To evening reflections o’er Tollie Farm Bay
To Gairloch by carriage to wine and to dine
A day to remember a day to define.
